Shaped by multi-cultural teams, tempered by deadlines, and loved by end-users who just want things to work.

Hi, I’m Dongming, a Seattle-based designer with 6+ years shaping user experiences across consulting and tech.

At J.D. Power (2022–present), I lead the design of forecasting tools and analytics platforms across the automotive industry. I build modular UI systems, reusable tokens, and seamless flows—empowering OEMs to make smarter, data-driven decisions.

At various multinational consultancies (2016–2021), I focused on research, marketing, and strategy across diverse clients. At Designest, I led 15+ user research studies and 5 brand strategy projects. I created co-creation workshops and helped clients launch brand narratives—one of which became a core service and boosted revenue by 20%+.

During the MHCI+D program at University of Washington (2021-2022), I worked on end-to-end projects that explored how design can support reflection, emotion, and everyday creativity—from early research to polished UI.
These projects emphasized UX research, mobile interaction, and storytelling-driven design.

I founded YouArtworks, an AI-powered gift shop, turning personalized portraits into greeting cards, wall art, and digital products. I approached it as a design-driven startup: conducting user research, exploring market opportunities, and applying digital marketing strategies such as SEO and content creation to grow visibility.

My paintings are inspired by Impressionism — with softened edges, vibrant tones, and a focus on light and emotion over realism. I often paint landscapes, especially after traveling, using colors intuitively to capture how a place felt rather than how it looked. For me, drawing is a form of meditation and a way to record my life in motion.
